EBI – passionate host to global journalism events
Directed by Prof. Dr. Susanne Fengler, the EBI team has hosted numerous international conferences in the past 15 years, bringing together journalism educators and media scholars from Europe, Africa, the MENA Region, Asia, and the Americas. Among the more recent and highly visible events have been the EJTA 2019 Annual Meeting (100 participants), the 2024 General Assembly of the Forum for European Journalism Students (FEJS) (150 participants), and the 2024 launch of our EU-funded project COPE (100 participants). Our vast experience in organizing large-scale conferences include the Herrenhäuser Conference (300 participants) and the annual conference of the German mass communication association DGPuK (500 participants).
We also have extensive experience in organizing large conferences in other locations – most recently e.g. project conferences in Malawi (2024, 100 participants), Vienna (2023, 100 participants), as well as conferences in Tunis, Amman, Porto, Liverpool, Warsaw, Wroclaw, and many more. Via our own multi-lingual European Journalism Observatory (www.ejo-online.eu) and our partnerships across continents with AJEN, EACA, AMIC, ALAIC, and many more, we can ensure effective communication to promote WJEC 2028. We are experienced in handling extensive review processes with hundreds of paper submissions (e.g. for the German mass communication scholars association DGPuK 2013, which will be hosted again in Dortmund 2026).
“The Erich Brost Institute was a great help with the organization and a terrific host of our FEJS General Assembly 2024 in Dortmund. The Institute not only provided the premises and payment infrastructure for our European student event but also supported and advised us with fundraising and the program on site. We are very grateful for this excellent cooperation!”
